2008 Project Rock Band Playoffs

Project Rock 2008 is a playoff competition to detemine the new Project Rock 2008 Champions. Any band based within 50 miles of Xenia, OH is invited to compete. Applications for Project Rock will be accepted until Jan 15, 2008 or until 30 bands and 5 alternate bands have entered. The entry fee for “Project Rock” is $25 per band. This fee must be paid before you can be guaranteed a first round play date and is non refundable. Assignment of play dates will be determined on a first come first served basis. Assignment preference will be given to bands of similar genres on the same night. Assignment decisions will be based on the requests of the participating bands, but The Cavern will have final discretion concerning assignments. Failure to pay the entry fee by Jan. 15 will cause your band to be removed from Project Rock. You must be able to play the later round dates if you win a given round. Check the chart before choosing your first date. Failure to appear at an assigned show will result in disqualification from Project Rock.

Musical challenges will be issued at each level of the competition. In order to reward both musicall excellence and fan appeal, 10 points will be awarded for each paying supporter in attendance and up to 150 points will be awarded by the judges for each performance.

First Round begins Jan. 25 -Up to 30 bands, 3 per night, Top 3 bands of each weekend will advance to the second round. Playing order to be determined by lot the night of each show. 2 shows each weekend.

Second Round begins March 8 - 15 bands, 5 nights, 3 per night. The 5 nightly winners plus the top non-winning “wild card” bands of each bracket will advance to the third round. Playing order choice to be determined by ranking. All Saturday shows.

Third Round begins April 12 - 9 bands, 3 per night, The 3 nightly winners plus the top vote getting non-winning “wild card” band will go to the semifinals. Top ranked band each night to headline.

The Semifinal Round will be held May 10 & 17 - 3 bands each night. The top 3 bands will play at the Final Round show. Top ranked band each night to headline.

The Project Rock Finals will be held on Saturday June 7, 2008. Venue to be determined.

Prizes:
Top Band - $500 plus Sponsors’ Awards including 10 hours of free studio time at Skeleton Key Studios and 5 hours of time at the ICB: the International College of Broadcasting
Second Place Band - $100 plus Sponsors’ Awards including 5 hours of studio time at Skeleton Key Studios (enough for one professional track)
Third Place Band - $100 plus Sponsors’ Awards including 5 hours of studio time at Skeleton Key Studios (enough for one professional track)
Participants: Sponsor’s awards plus $1 per vote received during the first and second round shows. $1.50 per vote received during the third round show. $2 per vote during the semifinal round show. No per-vote paid for the Final Round show due to the cash prizes.
